Strategic Inclusion Visit: Communication and Language
Early Years settings
This visit is designed to support you to ensure that the prime area of communication and language is given high priority and staff interactions are supporting the development of age appropriate communication and language.
This visit could also be designed to support the specific needs of children who have English as an additional language
Prior to the visit you will have the opportunity to discuss exactly what you would like the focus of the visit to be and to identify the intended outcomes.
This visit can be designed to meet your own specific needs, but could include the following:
- Joint observations to ascertain whether ECAT principles are consistently applied across the setting
- Modelling the use of signing and visual support so that practitioners are clear of the benefits of these strategies
- Sharing of the ECAT top techniques
- Follow up to communication and language training to support managers to identify impact of the interventions
Three or Six Hour Adviser Visit
A three or six hour adviser visit with written report and follow up telephone call, to discuss impact of implementation of the agreed actions.
