English as an Additional Language in the Early Years
Early Years Practitioners, whole staff teams, Childminders, and Out of School staff teams
Many children in Early Years settings will have a home language other than English. The workshop will explore the value of linguistic diversity and provide opportunities for children to develop their spoken English and use their home language in their play and learning.
Following the workshop you will be able to:
- Build on children’s experiences of language at home and in the wider community by providing a range of opportunities to develop the use of English
- Provide a range of opportunities for children to engage in speaking and listening activities and develop a fully inclusive environment
- Ensure that all children have opportunities to recognise and show respect for each child’s home language.
