Introduction to early years Forest School

Ideal for
Out of School and Early Years and Childcare Managers, Deputy Managers, Room Leaders and Practitioners including Out of School Practitioners

Outline
This practical workshop will take place outside and practitioners must ensure they are dressed appropriately. The session will provide an introduction to the background and ethos of Forest School and offer a range of practical activities, including the use of simple tools and fire lighting.

We want you to get the very best from this workshop and in order to maintain your safety and ensure your comfort we advise the following:

We will be outside for the entire session and therefore you will be on your feet, if this will cause any uncomfortableness please feel free to bring a fold up chair or stool with you.

The workshop will go ahead in most weather conditions unless extreme conditions make it unsafe to do so, should this unlikely event prevent the full use of the outdoor environment the workshop will take place indoors.

Please wear long trousers and long sleeved tops with comfortable sensible shoes, for example walking boots, wellies or robust trainers.  Consider the weather on the day and if need be bring waterproof jackets and trousers or sun hat and sun cream.

Please bring a water bottle, we do not have refreshment facilities in the forest.  You will have access to additional water and ot the toilets at the main venue at all times.

This workshop takes place outside, which by its very nature, is not free from hazard. While all reasonable precautions are taken to minimise the risk, those attending the workshop accept that accidents including serious injury and death can occur without Kent County Council being at fault.  Attendees taking part in this workshop do so at their own risk.
