Kate Whittaker – Early Years Improvement Adviser

I am an adaptable and responsive person who firmly believes in the value of quality experiences at the Early Years stage, both at home and in the Early Years setting.  The combination of involved, confident parents and knowledgeable, skilful practitioners will make all the difference to our children’s learning and development, setting them up for life.

I have over 15 years’ experience of the Early Years sector, having worked in a variety of settings. Early experiences as an adviser in the Birth to Three team gave me the opportunities to develop my understanding of these crucial years in children’s development and how to support them through exciting and motivating activities and this remains a particular area of expertise whilst working across the whole age range.  In all the work I do, my focus is on raising the profile of the child’s voice whilst enabling practitioners to create an inclusive, motivating and nurturing environment.

My own professional development includes: BTeC National Certificate in Childhood Studies L3, a Post Compulsory Certificate of Education and Teaching L4 and an MA in Early Years.
