Lucy Newman - Early Years Improvement Adviser
I am passionate about Early Years and the benefits quality provision brings to young children and their families. Early Years is both fun and rewarding and I believe it is a privilege to work with young children during their formative years.
I joined Kent County Council as an Improvement Adviser in September 2015. Prior to this, I worked as a freelance Ofsted Inspector for Tribal alongside managing an ‘outstanding’ pre-school. My work experience collectively includes full and sessional day care with children from birth to five years old. I have worked in purpose-built and pack-away settings, privately owned and committee-run. I understand the challenges and opportunities these present. As a pre-school manager, I successfully led my staff team (and Committee) through three outstanding Ofsted inspections. This includes changing from a pack-away to a purpose-built setting.
I hold Early Years Professional Status and a Post-graduate Diploma in Management studies. I am committed to professional development and have recently completed the Award in Education and Training. As an Early Years Improvement Adviser, I support staff to identify, and understand, how to improve their practice for children. I enjoy training, developing and mentoring Early Years staff and working with managers to enhance practice. My focus is on delivering positive outcomes, with children firmly at the centre of what I do.
