Mandy Davis – Early Years Improvement Adviser
My Early Year’s career started after completing my NNEB in 1982 and working in full day care for the London Borough of Lewisham. This gave me the opportunity to gain lots of different experiences working with children from birth to five, in a very diverse, deprived area of London. This is where my passion for working with children under three really started to grow, whilst working with babies, toddlers and two year olds I realised how fascinating this age group are and how rewarding my work was.
After having my own baby I returned to work as a practitioner in the Private, Voluntary and Independent sector, working for a fairly large chain nursery. I led practice with babies, toddlers and two year olds for a number of years before moving into a leadership position, as deputy manager of a large thriving nursery and afterschool provision. My leadership role enabled me to support my team to deliver the best outcomes for our children and families.
I then worked for Kent County Council as an under threes training and quality officer. I am a firm advocate for promoting the importance of attachment and the key person approach. Over the past 11 years I have been involved with writing and delivering high quality training that has engaged and motivated both practitioners and leaders.
In my personal live I love spending time with my family, horse riding and walking my dog.
